Fleet Department and Driving Deals are family owned and run - but with big clout!

Automotive Partners for the 21st Century
Few can dispute that todays world is very different to the one of eighty years ago. But in turbulent times many seek a return to the basic values of honesty, trust, value and service. Long before the UK entered recession, the business now known as Fleet Department chose to focus on these values and began to build the business around a collaborative model. We recognised early on that motor vehicle buyers - both individuals and fleets - yearned for a partner in the automotive industry who could be trusted implicitly to represent their best interests at all times. And so the business developed along the lines of a consumer co-operative but with the benefits of value, service, honesty and trust that you would expect of a family run organisation.
Today, the negotiation services provided by Fleet Department and Driving deals are used by some of the UK's leading Associations, organisations and individuals to reduce the cost of vehicle acquisition and operation.
Our Transport Heritage - Briefly!
We prefer to work in the now, with a close eye on the future, but we also feel that a brief glimpse into the past provides a better understanding of where we're going.
For us, it started back in the late thirties, when Thomas Lacy operated a bus and haulage business in North Lincolnshire. Being based in 'airfield county', the business grew dramatically following the outbreak of war as the local population swelled by members of the allied forces, all without transport and keen to spend every free moment exploring the nearby towns!
Since then the family has always been closely linked with transport but perhaps the most complete TTP (Total Transport Person) is the current Operations Director David Lacy who has spent a lifetime operating around all modes of transport - road, sea and air. In the 'road' section his cv would show cycles, cars, motorcycles and trucks - in the 'sea' section there would be boats (with a commercial skipper licence) and to complete the circle would be the air (qualified pilot and aviation businesses). Nothing extra terrestial yet but watch this space! The latest generation (Daughters surprisingly) are just as nuts about cars as Dad - Rachael is a Marketing and Key Account Manager for Fleet Department and Beki takes care of aftersales customers.
It was Mike Bowman - Head of More Th>n who said that family run businesses are more motivational, passionate, and creative than non-family enterprises and provide more flexibility, unity, purpose and trust. Whilst we feel that many other types of organisation also display these characteristics, Mike's statement certainly aligns with our philosophy.
Whats Next?
Our goal is to become the partner of choice for individuals and organisations looking to buy, lease or service a motor vehicle. Our collaborative model applies equally to organisations large and small and also to the woman or man 'on the street'. We will continue to invest in our people, technology and systems, with the needs of the customer underpinning all that we do.
